Tidal Waves Offseason Announcements
Dear Tidal Waves Families:
With the Holidays just around the corner we know that Swim Team may be far from your mind. However, we wanted to share with you a few exciting offseason announcements.
Coordinators: As you may know, Shannon Bates and Holly Hall have hung up their fins as Swim Team coordinators. Taking over for them will be a team of volunteers, helmed by Denise Kelly and Jennifer Sposito. We are thankful for the hard work and time that Shannon and Holly invested over the years and they continue to be wonderful resources as we dive in! With a team that includes Sarah Burt, Megan Bondi, Shawna Hereing, Crystal Jackson, Rebecca Porter and Lori Powell, we have a dedicated committee that is excited to build upon the solid foundation left by Shannon and Holly.
Head Coach:In addition to a new leadership team, we are thrilled to announce the addition of new Tidal Waves Head Coach Luke Osgood. Coach Luke is currently an assistant coach at Chattahoochee Gold Swimming and will continue in that role in addition to leading our Swim Team. As a former collegiate swimmer, he brings an impressive combination of swim knowledge and coaching experience to our team. We know that our swimmers are going to benefit exponentially from having Coach Luke lead the way.
Junior Coaches:We are currently filling the Junior Coach positions but still have openings. The Junior Coaches should be active or former swimmers at the high school or college level, energetic and enjoy working with kids. In addition to the paid coaching position, they are also eligible to swim for the Tidal Waves if they are 18 or under. If you know of anyone interested, please contact us on the email below.
Swim League:Another important change we want to share is that Cherokee Summer Swim Association (CSSA) – the governing body of all Cherokee County Summer Swim Teams – will no longer be operating our league. We, along with most Cherokee neighborhoods, will be transitioning to Atlanta Swim Association. ASA will provide a more cohesive management team to operate the league, as well as provide additional assets to our teams to improve swimmers’ – and parents’ – experience.
Dues/Registration:Due to the fact that ASA is a paid organization – unlike CSSA which was volunteer-based – there will be a moderate increase in fees at approximately $21 per swimmer. In addition, ASA requires an earlier registration deadline of April 1, so be on the lookout for important registration reminders. You won’t want your swimmers to miss out on this electrifying season!
In the meantime, our coordinating committee will continue meeting throughout the offseason to fully transition duties and plan for next season. We have many more exciting changes to announce as the season approaches so be on the lookout in your inbox and follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/tlhtidalwaves/. If you have any feedback, ideas, suggestions or questions, feel free to reach out via our new email address: [email protected]
Happy Fall Y’all!
